Hey not wanting to use this soulfull space to advertize anything even slightly commercial but... this could be a soulfull night at least for the Nottm Surf Club and anyone within sling shot of Beverley.
It is a fund raiser for SAS. It is also an opportunity to get the surf stoke up in a big screen setting. There is also Nellies at Beverley to consider.
Also... there is huge storm surf forcast for the Yorkshire Coast this weekend 10/11 November. Sheltered and secret spots could be firing!
This could be the weekend that Nottm surfers have been waiting for - Classic east coast fishing village surf followed by surf film double - stoke and hoot.

Ahhhhh Nellies... it's part of East Coast folklore by now.
Sounds like a great event Fresh V.
On the Gold Coast there is probably surf films every other weekend - come to think of it there are probably surf films every other weekend in Cornwall. But round here in the Nottingham / Derbyshire area they are rarety to the point of being non existent! Last one i remember was Crystal Voyager which toured with Easy Rider (?) in the 1970's. I remember vividly the Nottingham surf Club queuing at the Odeon at slab Square. It was on a Wednesday night of course.remember vividly the Nottingham surf Club quing at the Odeon at slab Sqare. Surf films in Derbyshire? What do you expect??
Crystal Voyager and Easy Rider would still be the double bill I would want to see!!
All you're missing is slashfest corporate promos like Occy the Occumentry (yawn) and Taj Burrows attempts 1001 airs (big yawn) or Andy Irons doesn't like losing surf contests (zzzzzz). You can live without that stuff.
Recent flicks i have enjoyed include Believe (nice Byron area stuff) and Cosmic Children (oh yeah thats 1969 innit)
Oh and not to forget Invasion from Planet C.
Hey Fresh Veg...your "vivid" memory seems to be repeating itself but then at your age I guess the old short-term memory gets a bit mushburger!
Reckon it wuz Surfrats 'n Greasers....but I'm too young to remember!
who is that guy in the tuxido?
So how was the weekend?
Peeling brown barrels coming out of the fog and pints of frothing brown ale in Beverley no doubt.
Great week of surf here last week and still around 3-4 feet on the points here today. Just got back from a nice session at Greenmount, very relaxed only a few out.
Another shark attack at Byron last week. Its turning into a scene from Jaws down there, every backpackers worst nightmare.
The Yorkshire weekend was great. Waves were ok 2-4. It was pretty cold though. Boots, gloves and hood! The lights of South Bay looked sureal - even saw beach donkeys being led home up the street. The film night was a hoot. Nine Hundred Miles was all East coast UK. Some fantastic waves but it maybe was a touch arty for the grimness of the east coast - cutting into reality now and then would have balanced it maybe. We also shopped for books, DVD's and other surf stuff as well. It was a great crowd and a huge success. Goofy drove a car full of dreamers home into the night!
Hey I heard about Byron Bay shark attacks on 7am National news this morning. Thought i was still dreaming in Goofys car!
I can't wait to check out that movie.
East Coast grimness would suit a Blair Witch type horror treatment with lots of ghoulish screams and evil cackles.
I remember a summer evening South Bay session with the reflected lights of the amusement arcades and donkeys on the beach.
Also remember endless magazine pages of swaying palms, girls in bikinis, sunshine.... only to arrive and look out the window at brown, blown out, freezing mushburgers.
